Section 4 describes an automatically renewing subscription: the On Watch monthly plan begins with a 7-day free trial and converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel first. The prepaid plans do not renew.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of The Final Watch, a web-based retirement-planning application operated by BT Ventures LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”). By creating an account, purchasing a plan, or using the service, you agree to these Terms. Please read Section 4 (billing) carefully — it describes an automatically renewing subscription.
1. The service
The Final Watch is a planning, organizational, and informational tool that helps you organize and track your own military retirement or separation process. It is delivered as a web application. It is a support tool only; it is not official guidance and not legal, financial, tax, or benefits advice, and it does not replace your chain of command or official government channels. Your use of the service is also subject to our in-app Disclaimer and our Privacy Policy, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference.
2. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the service. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
3. Plans offered
The Final Watch offers a monthly subscription plan and three one-time prepaid plans:
- On Watch — $12.99 per month, beginning with a 7-day free trial.
- Liberty Bound — $109 one time, for a 12-month access term.
- Old Salt — $169 one time, for an 18-month access term.
- Plank Owner — $219 one time, for a 24-month access term.
The prepaid plans include the printable/exportable planning materials; the On Watch monthly plan provides the framework only and does not include the export. Prices are in U.S. dollars.
4. Free trial, billing, and automatic renewal
On Watch monthly subscription
The On Watch plan begins with a 7-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription automatically converts to a paid monthly subscription and your payment method is charged $12.99. Thereafter, the subscription automatically renews each month and your payment method is charged $12.99 per month until you cancel. By starting the trial, you authorize these recurring charges.
Prepaid plans
The prepaid plans (Liberty Bound, Old Salt, Plank Owner) are one-time purchases for a fixed access term (12, 18, or 24 months). They do not automatically renew. When the term ends, access ends unless you choose to purchase again.
5. Cancellation
You may cancel the On Watch monthly subscription at any time — during the free trial or after — from the Manage Subscription screen, reached from the link at the foot of your dashboard. To avoid being charged for the first paid month, cancel before the 7-day free trial ends. To avoid being charged for a renewal month, cancel before that month’s renewal date.
When you cancel, your cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period: you keep access through the period you have already paid for (or through the end of the trial, if you cancel during the trial), and you are not charged again. We do not provide partial-month refunds for the monthly plan. Refunds for the prepaid plans are governed by our Refund Policy.
6. Refunds
Refunds are governed by our separate Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. In summary: the prepaid plans carry a 30-day, no-questions-asked full-refund window and are non-refundable after 30 days; the monthly plan’s safety net is the 7-day free trial. 7. Acceptable use
You agree to use the service only for its intended, lawful purpose. You may not resell or redistribute the service or its content, attempt to gain unauthorized access, interfere with its operation, or copy, scrape, or reverse-engineer it except as permitted by law.
8. Intellectual property
The Final Watch, including its content, checklists, frameworks, and materials, is owned by BT Ventures LLC and protected by applicable law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the service and to use the exported materials for your own personal retirement planning. Military rank titles, program names, and form numbers used in the service are used for descriptive and informational purposes only; see the Disclaimer.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Final Watch does not provide legal, financial, tax, medical, or benefits-counseling advice and does not guarantee any outcome. Retirement and separation rules change and vary by individual circumstance; you must verify every requirement and deadline against the current official source before acting. 10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BT Ventures LLC and its owners and contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any missed deadline, denied or delayed benefit, or other loss arising from your use of or reliance on the service.
11. Changes to the service or these Terms
We may modify the service or these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes to these Terms, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you within the service. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
